Attorney General's Chamber, Hongkong, 28th March, 1890.

Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of His Excellency's minute of the 24th instant with regard to my letter of the 2nd instant, and to state that I have perused my letter of that date.

I respectfully submit that I should have been informed, before leaving British Honduras, not only of the fact that I was to have private practice (which I agreed to) but also that any official fees I received were to be paid into the Treasury.

This additional information was only afforded me by the Acting Colonial Secretary's letter of 19th March, 1890, No. 640.

The Hon'ble M. M. Deane,

Acting Colonial Secretary
